Book Review - First Date by krista McGee

Note - I was given an ecopy of this book free of charge in exchange for my honest review.

"The last thing Addy Davidson wants is to be on a reality TV show where the prize is a prom date with the President’s son. She’s focused on her schoolwork so she can get a scholarship to an Ivy League college, uncomfortable in the spotlight, never been on a date, and didn’t even audition for it.
But she got selected anyway.
So she does her best to get eliminated on the very first show. Right before she realizes that the President’s son is possibly the most attractive guy she has ever seen in person, surprisingly nice, and seemingly unimpressed by the 99 other girls who are throwing themselves at him.
Addy’s totally out of her comfort zone but that may be right where God can show her all that she was meant to be."

This book follows a familiar format and is fairly predictable but does have a few twists and surprises.   I thought it was cute and a good book for the teenage set to read.  I am sure there are many teen girls who can identify with the following themes of the book:

-being put in a situation you do not want to be in
-anger at things in your life that have not gone to plan
-acting out
-not fitting in with those around you
-being bullied
-struggling with your own faith
-trying to figure out what and where your place in life is
-teen crushes
-feelings of inadequacy

I also think the way she handles things and the outcomes are a good lesson for girls.  A favorite line in the book is s," If your not talking to God about it, how do you expect to get through it?".  I think that is a good question for all of us to ask ourselves.
